Servanthood
"When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. 'Do you understand what I have done for you?' he asked them...I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you" John 13:12, 15
Holy God, as surely as you have washed the feet of your disciples, you have called me by name and have given me a new heart. My eyes can see clearly the needs of my brother, my neighbor, my co-worker. Only you loving God make possible the unity and fruition of the servant's heart and merciful actions. Lord, empty me now, in this very moment, for this very day, of any sense of self-servitude or the desire for humanly praise. Hear my prayer Holy God, that when this day and journey is done, I might hear, "well done good and faithful servant!" Your will is perfect, your grace is sufficient, your love is complete, you need nothing from me, but I need everything of you. To your name be all glory everlasting God!
