Reconciliation
All this [new creation] is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 2 COR 18-19
Almighty God, I confess that I have thought, said, and done things in opposition to your will. I accept the forgiveness you give to me in Christ and with a grateful heart I will share this love with others. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
The wonderful concept and practice of reconciliation, for Christ-followers, begins with God. Reconciliation (being restored in right relationship) with God makes possible being in right relationship with others, friends, colleagues, spouses, children, and parents. Only God makes this possible - grace. Generally speaking, persons respond in faith, dis-belief, or avoidance. When you respond in faith to God's offer and opportunity for reconciliation (which can be for the very first time, or once a day, or twice tomorrow, or ten times on Saturday) there are three responses: acknowledgement (confession) of sin (opposition to God's will); acceptance of God's forgiveness in Christ; and a response of gratitude to be shared with God and others.
This is what, I believe, Paul meant when he speaks of God entrusting us with the message of reconciliation. Again, an example and recognition of us not being in control but responsible!
Have a happy day of reconciling, in His name because He lives...
