Great and Mighty

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. Psalm 145:3-7

The heart of a joy-filled life is one of thanksgiving and humility. In opposition to this, resentment and pride govern the heart of the despair-driven life. One is marked by generosity and the other calculation.

Holy and generous God, free us this day from selfish ambition and the desire for attaining and accumulating "stuff". You know our every need and you are faithful. 

Lord Jesus, in your grace, you make possible, for each of us, that which we can not do on our own. Your forgiveness is real, your way is kind, your power is unlimited. 

We surrender to you all that we have done, all that we are doing, and all that we are about to do that we might be one with you - Father, Son, Holy Spirit and your peace that passes all understanding will be written into our heart's stories…
