What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you. James 4:1

Jesus Christ, how you know us better than we know ourselves! Forgive us for what we do and what we don't do that is not of you but comes from our ego and pride-driven desires to be recognized, to receive praise and accolades. Forgive us o Lord for seeking the places of honor and positioning ourselves for places of power, false and hollow may they be. 

Help us merciful God in your calling and claim upon our lives to be the Church you have created us to be - united in Jesus Christ by your Spirit - a holy and living witness.

O God, you have shown us and taught us that the condition and character of our part in every relationship that we have with others, is a reflection of the depth of our relationship with you. Purify us, as persons and the church, that we will be, this day, participants in your mission to transform the world through faith, hope, and love!
