Rest

Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28–30

Are you at your wit's end? Is there a situation, a someone, a problem that has you to the point where you have just thrown up your hands and you've exclaimed, "that's it!"

Great. You are perfectly positioned for Jesus to be the perfect rest, in you, for you, through you. Confess with your mouth that recurring thought, "I can not do this." And, then, "Lord, I need you."

Allow the grace and peace that passes all understanding to fill your soul and quiet your spirit. Do not be deceived, God has never asked you, under any circumstance, to do anything, in your own strength.

This is, in part, the mystery of the grace of God in the world, in our lives. The Spirit of God reveals to us our need, our brokenness in the breath of a moment. And, wonderfully and amazingly, in the next breath, God brings this unexplainable rest and peace.

How great is our God that knows each of us better than we know ourselves?

Will you surrender that burden, today, that is dragging you down? Knowing peace, rest, and joy is not simply wishful thinking. God knows you. God is real. God really is perfect rest and peace for the weary soul.

My prayer, for you and me, "Lord, I surrender, I need you."
