Reflecting Christ's Love
Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them. John 17:25-26
And so Jesus closes his prayer for those who have come to believe through the witness of the disciples.
In one sense, my heart is heavy as I read and see the venomous diatribes by the "blamers" and the "haters" in the news surrounding politics and culture. Both make claims for justice and being justified. You might find that it is easy, as you read this, to assign either of those titles/namings to another.
In truth, there is not one of us that have not been guilty of such a charge. And here is where my heart is filled with hope, we have a choice as to how we will respond.
My heartfelt prayer, as those who walk in faith through the One who lives in us, is that we will allow the transforming love of Christ to be reflected in our speech and actions - a testimony of civility coupled with passion.
May God's peace fill each of us this day that others might see in us a reason to believe.
