Purity of Heart

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both freshwater and saltwater flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. James 3:9–12

O gracious Lord, I stand convicted. How easy it is for the remnants of sin in the heart of man to make itself known. In your mercy let your Spirit of truth and power reign in my life and in the life of every child of God that we might speak and share with humility edifying words that testify to the righteousness of Christ. 

Your will, almighty and everlasting God, is the only source for a sustained life in Christ...may it be so this day that all the world will know, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever - Lord of all.
