Love Above All
Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 10:37-39
The truth often sounds harsh to the believer and unbelievers alike, and most assuredly to the "politically correct".
The Good News does not demean nor diminish your relationships, especially those closest to you. Rather, as we grow in our love and knowledge of God, our capacity and ability to be more loving (1 Cor. 13) with others is compounded.
Holy God, as the keeper of our souls, I lift to you this day all those who are caregivers and care-receivers. Anoint their relationships through your Spirit that your joy, peace, and presence would be known and felt in the simplest of everyday tasks.
Precious Lord, no amount of wishing on our part will change the heart and life of those who follow the ways of the world, but in you, through you Lord, your Spirit holds the will and power to to bring conviction - of sin and righteousness.
Thank you God for never giving up on me. Hear my heart's desire to be a vessel of your grace - your presence, pardon, and power, that I might be more fully alive in your faith, hope, and love. Your will be done - nothing more, nothing less, and nothing else. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
