Contentious

The world and human relations are filled with irritable, irascible, and contentious minded people. The old saying, "It takes one to know one", applies to me, I confess.

When I became a Christ-follower, accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, I truly became a new creation. Yes, part of the "old me" is still there. But, "he who is in me is greater than the one in the world" (1 John 4:4).

Everyday, with God's help, I turn to God, confessing my need to be led by the Holy Spirit that I might be an instrument of God's grace. There are moments, even days, when I fail or fall short (my colleagues and family could testify 😳), I confess and God-willing, I repent.

As Christ-followers, the call and claim upon our lives means Jesus is our standard bearer.

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others.
Philippians 2:1-4

Merciful God, fulfill in each of us this day you glorious will...that, as your children and participants in building the Kingdom of God, we might truly be one body in Christ.

In and by your Spirit, we will speak truth in love, moving from grace-to-grace, that your love would be the standard by which we become known and that others would come to know you - Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life…
