Authority

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Matthew 28:18

The essence of God is such that, being love, God will not force you to do anything against “your will”. Rather, in love, through the Spirit, God’s will is for our will to be one with God.

Precious and holy God, you alone are the author of all that is good and praiseworthy. You created the heavens and the earth and you made us in your image.

Forgive us we pray for all the times and ways that we lean on and rely on our ways and understandings rather than surrendering our will to the presence of your Spirit in our lives. Free us from the bondage and baggage of being self-absorbed as we submit to the wonder of your cross, the emptiness of the tomb, and live out the promise of your grace.

With you, almighty and everlasting God, all things are possible. In your mercy, let your will be done in each of our lives this day, that in all things and in all ways and at all times, our souls will rejoice in the faith, hope, and love of Jesus Christ...
