Jesus

Then he asked them, "But who do you say I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Messiah." Mark 8:29

Popular culture will have us looking left, right, behind us, into the horoscopes, and every other imaginable place for answers and directions to life's complexities and brokenness.

Until one comes to the end of themselves; the place where they are no longer conceiving themselves as the one capable of discerning and implementing what is "right, pure, truth, holy" - it is only then they are ready to accept, in faith, over and against themselves, the Messiah.

The concept, for the Christ-follower, appears simple and obvious, in hindsight. For the non-believer, the notion appears silly and childish - "Really? Trust in some person that walked the earth claiming to be the way, the truth, and the life!"

One difficulty, for a Christ-follower, is to do it, to put their trust in faith in Christ over and over again. We are not called to trust in "our hindsight". Jesus calls us, by name to trust in him, today. And then, God willing, again tomorrow, and the next, and so on.

I'm not sure what you have going on your life, but maybe this passage will be of comfort...

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42

Come Holy Spirit, come. Guide me, teach me, and fill me in the presence, pardon, and power of Jesus Christ that in all I say or do, the love of God will be my witness.
