Humility
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Romans 12:3
This might not go the way you think. Do you struggle with feeling like you don’t measure up, or that you are not good enough? This too, as is thinking too highly of yourself, is a matter of spiritual pride.
The truest, purest, most loving of who any of us can be is, I believe, as a confession of faith, the ever-deepening and growing in the image of God.
Apart from grace, this impossible. With grace, it is not only the future perfect, it is our present reality as we let go of our “natural right” to be “right” and, in faith, embrace the promise that Jesus Christ is who he says he is!
Holy God, let all manner and forms of pride die in us that the pardon of Christ through the presence of your Spirit will be our All-in-all...
What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
