Holy Ground

So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Exodus 3:4-5

Holy ground may be found in the desert, on the gentle slope of a still and serene lake, amidst the loud and reverberating rock band on an elevated platform, or in the well worn but comfy chair in your living room.

Holy ground has nothing, really, to do with an intrinsic value of a particular location - holy ground has everything to do with the presence of God.

"Being on holy ground" is as easy and difficult as having one's heart burn for the presence of God.

Will you pray with me?

Almighty and everlasting God, Father of Creation, Prince of Peace, Hope of the world, let your Spirit fall afresh on me, my family, those that are hurting, and the tender-hearted.

Sovereign God, in your mercy, even as you did with Saul on the road to Damascus, enter the life and the spirit of those who persecute you and others. Use us, your will be done, in the lives of others that we may open our mouths with boldness to speak in the humble assurance of your steadfast love.

Make this day, this very hour, in this very place, holy ground and our hearts fertile soil...in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
