Critical
Jesus was speaking to his disciples and the crowds. "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.... everything they do is done for men to see...Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!" (MT 23, selected verses).
A couple of questions one might ask of themselves: "How often am I doing things to be seen by others?"; and, "Who is qualified to judge the condition of one's heart, the motives for one's actions?"
Two accompanying thoughts: A great kindness that one can show oneself is to shed the critical spirit of another; Humility grows as one is willing to see their own shortcomings through the lens of observing others.
May humility and kindness be our mindset and motive for the day.
Grace and peace in the journey...
