Blessed

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7

This is tough stuff, not for the faint of heart. It takes real courage and a big dose of humility to exercise mercy. Seriously, who doesn't want to "give 'em what they deserve and have coming to them", whoever or whatever the person or situation may be?!

How does one hold in tension, "act justly and to love mercy and walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8).

I believe, through God's grace, as we become acutely aware of our own shortfalls, our brokenness, our sin, that is the first step, and our ongoing steps each day, to extending mercy to "the guilty over whom you hold power and authority."

What does "being merciful" look like in your life?

May God's grace move in such a way that each of us will learn and live out of the mercy that we have in Jesus Christ.
